434′ in Feedback

Audio and video produced with simple feedback patches using my Eurorack analogue modular synthesiser. Organic textures and artefacts emerge from relatively simple feedback systems. The video is sped up 200% from the original capture, otherwise there is no software post-processing.

No input signal generation in the video patch. Audio-wise has almost no input but I would sometimes inject a tone to ‘seed’ the feedback loop of the audio signal patch if it ebbed away. What you’re seeing & hearing is primarily the effect of the feedback loop amplifying the analogue video and audio circuitry from the synthesiser.

Wigflex City Festival

Installation for the Multimodal stage at Nottingham Contemporary for Wigflex City Festival on 5th May 2019.

Acts included: Young Marco, James Holden & The Animal Spirits, Bufiman aka Wolf Muller, Yazmin Lacey, Chai Larden & Soul Buggin’

Projection and light animations were all generated in real-time with VDMX, responding to both live audio input and performance input from a custom Touch OSC controller. Seven fadecandy micro-controllers were used to pixel-map the video data using Syphon & Processing.
